The Plateau State Internal Revenue Service( PSIRS ) has generated the sum of N11.8 Billion between January and August this year(2019) as against the projected budget of N18 billion for the year  ending 2019.

Mr Arlat Dashe Dasoghot,the Plateau State Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service,  made  this revelations in  Jos while interacting with a select media houses and newsmen at his Office, the Revenue House  on Wednesday,25th September,2019.

In the  interactive session, Dasoghot said this result has given them a performance record of 64% as a State, while they are still waiting for the figure of revenue generation for the month of September.

According to Revenue Service Boss," As a Service, they have a budget of N12.4 Billion, and so far generated N9.8 billion which put them on 80% performance as a budget.

Dasogot added that the budget for the MDAs in the State for 2019, stood at N5.98 Billion and the total collection so far stand at N1.9billion showing that we are not yet there as the state Governor Bar Simon Lalong has been emphasizing on economic rebirth.

According to Dasoghot," their focus is on Agriculture, Tourism and Mining that the State stands to generate more income from them to sustain state, saying like in tourism sector in the state, there are so many things there to be tapped by the State Government. "

Dasogot noted that like the Land Resources in the state that is so huge, many people are using them with little or nothing coming into the coffers of the state wondering why people are not paying ground rents in the state to the coffers of the State Government.

He added that they were finding it difficult to collect revenue taxes from the informal sector in the state because  streets and houses are not numbered which efforts is being made to start numbering streets and as well naming of streets and registering of Private Schools and Hospitals.
According to him", every MDA henceforth will start generating revenue for the state government, stressing that gone are the days MDAs will say they are not revenue generating sources for the state. "

He said tax is an obligation that every person of adult age has obligation to pay to the State Government.

Dasogot added that there are lots of activities at MDAs that are not captured into the tax net of the state and that efforts is being made to holistically captured them into the state tax net in their revenue drive to generate more money for the State Government to enable it carry out the execution of more projects for the people of Plateau state.

He also disclosed the establishment of 3 Revenue Courts in the State ,one in Jos and 2 others in Central and Southern part of the State to try individuals ,companies and organizations that evade tax payment in the state.
The Executive Chairman of the Service,Mr Arlat Dashe Dasoghot used the opportunity to on behalf of the Management, Staff and the Service to heartily felicitate and congratulate the newly appointed and sworn in Secretary to the Government of Plateau State,Prof Danladi Abok Atu, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Plateau State,Hon.Surv.Noel Kuryil Donjur as well as all the appointed Commissioners to serve in the Plateau State Executive Council.
