The Plateau State Task Force on Environmental Sanitation has prosecuted 23 offenders. The sanitation exercise which is a monthly exercise was flagged off in June by His. Excellency Plateau State Governor Barr. Caleb Mutfwang.
The exercise is aimed at keeping the state clean and making its vicinity spotless. Plateau States known for healthy and clean livelihood will propagate businesses to strive better and will also attract investors domestic and international.
Statement alured with erruds of truths dished out by Governor Caleb Mutfwang during his flag off was keeping the atmosphere on the Plateau clean. During the flag off, a Task Force was put in place enforcing the process be functional and apt in it's execution. The Ministry of Environment shouldered with the responsibilities of "Environmental Decency" cleaning the state all across Jos Metropolise held hands with some Government Officials in the likes of Mrs Rauta Dakok Plateau State Head of Service to execute the Governor promise to the good Plateau People.
The Head of Service, Mrs Rauta Dakok briefly telling journalists on ground compared and contrast the level of participation from the previous sanitation saying the Environmental Sanitation exercise level of this time is better than the previous. She encouraged more hard work in cleaning and cleanliness, while vehemently bringing to notice movement of people and cars. Rauta Dakok representing the Governor mentioned that people have not yet come to terms with the ideology behind the sanitation process, but it is no excuse for cleanliness on the Plateau.
The Head of Service points out lapses to travellers, people seen at various motor packs ready to journey, commercial vehicles packing passenger ready to swidle away that those disobeying the law stand to face the consequences of the law. Government is going to put in more measures for total compliance next sanitation.
Rauta Dakok led the way to point that hence Government will take more strict measures, his Excellency Caleb Mutfwang earlier met with various organizations and stakeholders to ensure total compliance, aided with reference to motor packs operating during sanitation.
She said his Excellency Governor Mutfwang took his time to visit most of the packs to ensure total compliance seeking their co-operation and collaboration. Government will still take strict measures on those concerned advising them to take note, while creating more proactive measures to deal with defaulters.
Speaking, Albert Chairmang the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment during the exercise frawned at defaulters who are suppose to be in there various homes cleaning up their environment roaming about. He pointed out terminus market as a focal point, saying road side users dump their refuse under their table causing pollution to the surrounding gave accolades to government through Ministry of Environment successful cleared out refuse, likewise dumps within the market environment and Metropolise at large. He pointed that their are standby trucks always ready to evacuate the dumps at all spot, and government is also working on making the citizens know that they can make money from recycled refuse dumps which is lucrative and finances money stability and if the people finally understand that recycling is a big business most people will keep their refuse and sale them.
According to him the lack of awareness is what makes people endulde in indiscriminate dumping of refuse. The Permanent Secretary further said government has plans to clear all the road side table around the Jos Main-Market the terminus area but before then the Ministry of Environment will meet those involved in Tax collection & Revenue before taking necessary action. The Permanent Secretary frawns at citizens dumping refuse under their tables and most of them not obeying the sanitation process. The Administration would not take it likely with defaulter as more proactive measures is being put in place for total compliance and more mobile court put in place to ensure total prosecution for offenders.
23 persons where prosecuted at the mobile court, most of those prosecuted are those caught during the sanitation hours not complying.
