PLATEAU ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION RECORDS HIGH COMPLIANCE -PETER LAMBA GWOM COMMISSIONER ENVIRONMENT.

The Plateau State monthly Environmental Sanitation records high level of compliance compared to previous months since the declaration of State of Emergency on sanitation by the Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang.
This was made known to Newsmen in Jos by the Newly sworn in Commissioner of Environment Honorable Peter Kanang Gwom after supervising the exercise.
The team of Government officials who supervised the exercise were lead by the Head of Service Barr. Rahila Dakok, who represented the Governor, Commissioners of Environment, Hon Peter Gwom, Dr Cletus Bako Shurkuk Commissioner of Health, Permanent Secretary Ministry for Environment Hon Albert Chaimang, Chairman Jos South Local Government, Peter Vwang Dung, and other Government officials.
In separate interviews, the Head of Service said the Government is looking into ways to partner with the private sector to improve on the successes recorded to boost the awareness and participation by citizens to rid the state of filth and blocked water ways.

The Commissioner of Environment who participated in the exercise for the first time after assumption office was proactive in making sure dump cites where evacuated saying he was impressed with the level of compliance but also adds that his Ministry will try to make the exercise an eventful day where people in the Sate will come out to clean their environment without being told.
The Commissioner of Health added that the "sanitation has a great health benefit to the people because a clean environment promotes healthy living".
Mobile Courts where situated in various areas and strategic points where defaulters were prosecuted.

As at the time of supervision, the Mobile Courts at Miango junction and Old Airport junction convicted about 53 defaulters who were made to pay a fine of N1,000 each.
Motorcycle Riders Association in Building Material Market junction where seen clearing drainages and sand filling portholes within the area while traders in Bukuru market complied by keeping their shops under lock and key while cleaning their surroundings.
The sanitation exercise was a success thanks to the agile, galant and committed security operatives who were on ground to check mate various defaults and lackages within the exercise.
